We know your time is valuable and sometimes you can't make it into the branch.  That's why we're now offering our members SpoFed Mobile Deposit – the convenient, easy way to deposit your checks.  With SpoFed Mobile Deposit, the moment you receive a check, you can deposit it in about one minute so you can get on with your day and do more important things – like figure out what's for dinner.  Deposit your checks anywhere, anytime.

1. Simply tap on our mobile app and select "Mobile Deposit" from the menu.

2. Designate the account where you want the funds deposited.

3. Enter the check amount. 

4. Snap a picture of the front and back of your check.  

5. Hit the submit button and snap – you're done!

Your check is deposited safely using this convenient new tool.

Tips for Success

In order to ensure a clear photo is captured, make sure you have:

  • Good lighting and clear focus
  • Place the check on a dark surface
  • Ensure the entire check appears in the photo box
  • Make sure the check is clearly visible - no other objects interfere and all 4 corners of the check are evident

Q & A

Is the SFCU Mobile App Required?

Yes. Mobile Deposit is fully integrated within Mobile Banking so you'll need to download the SFCU Mobile App for free at the Google Play (Android devices) or App Store (Apple devices).  iPad users should download the app from the iPhone section of the App Store.

Members who are currently using the SFCU Mobile App may need to update the app before using Mobile Deposit.  If, however, your device is configured to automatically apply updates, then you may not need to do anything ahead of time.  

Will Mobile Deposit Work on Any Phone? What about Tablets?

Mobile Deposit will work with just about any Android or Apple smart phone or tablet, provided the device has a built-in camera to capture the check images and the SFCU Mobile App installed.

Is Mobile Deposit Secure?

Definitely!  Mobile Deposit is integrated within the mobile banking platform so you can only access it by securely signing into SFCU Mobile. The system uses state-of-the-art encryption technology to transmit the check image to the Credit Union. Although Mobile Deposit does use your smart phone or tablet's camera to capture the check image, it does not store the image on your device.

How should I endorse the check?  

When depositing using Mobile Deposit, we ask that the back of the check include your signature(s) and the words mobile deposit.

How will I know when the check has been posted to my account?

Deposits are subject to review before they are considered final.  If your deposit was immediately accepted, you'll see a pop-up message with the words deposit successful.  If your deposit needed further review, you will receive email notification once it has been accepted.

When will my deposit be credited to my account?  

Mobile deposits that go into review will be released periodically throughout the business day.  

How long should I keep the check?

A general rule of thumb is 35 days.  We recommend you write "Mobile Deposit" on the front of the check so you know it's been deposited and place it in a secure location.  Once you've determined the check was successfully deposited, you can shred it.
