How To Stick With Your New Year's Resolutions!

What do you want to accomplish in 2014? Is it a physical goal? Is it a financial goal? Is it an intrinsic goal? Whatever it may be, be assured that just about everyone starts out the New Year with a “resolution”. Many times, these resolutions last for a short while then seem to get moved to the back burner.  What are some of the best ways to stick to your New Years resolution? Here are a few tips:

1. Write your resolution down and put it in a place that you will see often. This will help you to be visually reminded of your resolution. For example, if your goal is to save money then write it down on a small piece of paper and keep it in your wallet/handbag right next to your debit card. This way each you time that you start to use your debit card you will see the goal staring right back at you!

2. Tell your friends and family about your goals and remind them to ask for progress updates. This will help to hold you accountable for reaching your goals.

3. Keep track of and celebrate your progress and milestones. For example if your goal is to exercise three times per week, don’t hesitate to start with one or two times per week  and work your way up to three times per week. Most importantly, celebrate when you reach a new milestone. Let everyone know that you are one step closer to reaching your goal.

4. Set accurate timelines. It is important to remember that Rome was not built in a day and reaching your goals will not happen overnight. Be realistic with yourself, your schedule, and your current lifestyle to ensure that you are not taking on too much during a short period of time.
